 Spinal decompression

Nonsurgical, noninvasive solution for neck and low back pain. This technique gently tractions the spine to relive pressure on discs and nerves. Spinal decompression can be effective in treating the following:

o   Low back pain

o   Radicular symptoms including sciatica and cervical radiculopathy

o   Facet joint syndrome

Soft tissue techniques.

Graston: type of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization that uses passive movement of musculofascial elements through its restrictive directions in order to:

o   Release fascial restrictions and adhesions

o   Separate and break down collagen cross-links

o   Stretch connective tissue and muscle fibers

o   Increase skin temperature

o   Facilitate reflex changes in chronic muscle holding patterns

o   Increase rate and amount of blood flow to and from the area

Cupping.

Dry cupping involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The suction may facilitate healing with blood flow. Cupping increases circulation to the areas applied, which may relieve muscle tension, improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair.

Myofascial release.

Focuses on reducing pain by releasing tension in trigger points.

Modalities:

o   Electrical stimulation: therapeutic treatment of muscle spasms and pain. Electrodes are attached to area of pain and delivers impulses that cause the muscle contract. Benefits include increase patient range of motion, improve circulation, and decrease inflammation and swelling of affected tissues.

o   Ultrasound: treatment used to relieve pain and promote tissue healing. Ultrasound therapy is comprised of continuous transmission of sound waves that cause microscopic vibrations in the deep tissue molecules, increasing heat and friction. This heating effect encourages the healing of the affected tissue by increasing the metabolism at the level of the tissue cells.
